We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Technician to join our innovative team near Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity to work on prototyping for manufacture of advanced technologies, assembling small fusion reactor devices and electrical systems. The role also involves handling administrative tasks related to batch manufacturing, making it a varied and rewarding position.
Developing prototypes of next generation fusion reactor components via fabrication techniques such as machining
Assembling reactors and industrial electrical systems for small fusion reactor devices, ensuring precision and quality at every stage.
Working from engineering drawings and procedures to assemble and develop systems.
Collaborating with the R&D team to conceptualise next generation components that will lead in to prototyping development.
Collaborating with the engineering team to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges during assembly.
Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment in compliance with health and safety guidelines
Attending manufacturing meetings to plan assembly and report progress.
Developing reactor systems through design feedback to senior engineers
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
3-years minimum, (5+ years preferred) hands-on experience in technical roles requiring precision engineering, experience with precision fabrication and vacuum components are highly advantageous.
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on attention to quality and accuracy.
Strong problem-solving abilities, able to tackle problems independently.
Experience in commercial manufacturing.
Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in technical documentation of manufacturing.
Mechanical CAD design experience (Solid Edge highly advantageous)
Excellent organisational and communication skills to handle administrative tasks effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft software and tools (e.g., MS SharePoint, MS Teams, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Planner)
Flexible and Supportive personality – able to keep multiple projects progressing whilst accommodating unplanned tasks
UK Driving Licence (Preferred)
Familiarity with fusion reactors or similar advanced engineering projects (Preferred).
